WIP Update - The Practice Mage - AXOLOTLS

Work In Progress / 02 February 2020

Small Update but I've now made the AXOLOTL!!!!

They're so cute in the original concept that I really wanted to do them justice in the sculpt so I tried to keep the forms as smooth and round as possible! The mouth was definitely the funnest part.

Hair Update!
So after defining some more folds on the clothing, I moved onto refining the hair a little bit more, separating it out into different segments which I planned out by quickly drawing over the original concept. I've created the sides and back of the hairstyle assuming it would be much shorter as there are no long strands of hair blowing out from behind the head in the concept.

Here's a few shot from my Toolbag scene:

I've also made a few little tweaks here and there to the face since the last update. Mainly reducing how far the Zygomatic bone stuck out sideways.

and some full-body shots of the clothing, trying to preempt some of the major folds in the final pose.

New WIP - The Practice Mage

Work In Progress / 14 January 2020

Been working away at this in my spare time. Still a ways to go but I feel it's slowly starting to come together now :D

The original concept for this character is by the awesome Terry Wei

I've been trying to replicate the feel of the original concept while maintaining clean lines and shapes. May need to tone down his Zygomatic a bit but I'm liking the sculpt so far. The hair is still very much a blockout sketch atm, but that's next on the list after I get in all the primary folds/forms of the clothing.

This is just a test scene I've setup in Toolbag 3 to try and evaluate the sculpt in lighting that's a little bit closer to the concept. I want to eventually take the final character into UE4 as well.

Then some Zbrush screenshots of the sculpt so far:
